I remember being a very skinny 16 year old, the way my body looked made me feel less value and like it wasn’t a good statement of my character. I wanted to feel strong and fit, not weak and unhealthy. I wanted other people's observations to be the same and to feel better in my clothes, the mirror and my physical presence, so I started the gym.
That’s where I was going wrong. Your values should be integral to yourself, not contained through the validation of others. When your biggest motivators are extrinsic, you’ll probably struggle to harness a near consistent flow of happiness and fulfilment.
Fast forward 10 years, as the now owner of Jacob Butterfield Fitness, I have guided hundreds of people through their own transformational journeys. I am inspired by helping those who are highly driven and committed to their own personal development wanting to achieve their ideal body, better health and a mindset that matches their professional status, to support their future.
Many people struggle with changing their body shape, keeping their weight off, consistency and motivation. I’ve found this (mindset) - alongside understanding how to fuel yourself with the right nutrition and training to suit your body's mechanics - to be among the key things for a lifelong solution.
Your ideal body starts with a healthy mindset and these things create part of the harmony for a healthy life.
I also know what it’s like to feel time-poor and burned out. Through building my business at the same time as academic study and working as a full time Production Engineer (2010-2017. You see, I haven’t always been around health and fitness.). I have witnessed first hand the effects that stress (both physically and emotionally) can have on your health, your abilities to progress when it comes to changing your body shape and how to overcome these challenges.
Now, with my expertise and education about the human body, through resistance training, nutrition and stress-resilience I teach people how to manage their schedules to get fit and stay fit.
In many cases it’s not just about working more and working harder, it’s about working smarter.
